Swoon is an award-winning independent producer of authentic, artisan gelato established by brother & sister duo Bruno Forte and Pat Powell. With an already successful flagship store adjacent to College Green in Bristol, the siblings were keen to introduce a second Gelateria on the vibrant Kingsmead Square, Bath. This project saw the introduction of an active replacement shop frontage and extensive internal alterations to an existing Grade II listed building.

The existing building was bomb damaged during World War II, with much of the original composition significantly reconstructed post-war. The design proposal delivered a more truthful return to the former compositional make-up following research of archive photos dating back to the early 1900s.

Oliver worked closely with the siblings to develop a comprehensive package of detailed drawings & interior designs that needed to be faithful to the established company branding by Enpuro & Fable, whilst also complying with the strict Conservation & Heritage Design Guidance for shopfronts within Bath’s historic centre.

The design makes the most of the adjacent urban square & landscaped space, with its porous façade embracing the setting populated by other distinctive independent businesses and eateries.

With over 120 years family experience of crafting gelato, all of Swoon’s award winning gelato is made on site from scratch using the finest ingredients – be it the local somerset milk or pistachios hand-sourced from Sicily. We thoroughly recommend you visit to try some!
